Kane can recapture #1 ranking with win
When Kane Waselenchuk steps onto the court this weekend at the ROLLOUT New Jersey Open he will hear an unfamiliar announcement as he is introduced as the number two ranked player on the IRT Pro Racquetball tour.
This may not ring true for long…
Kane did not give up the #1 ranking he has held since, well…forever – by getting beat by a human on a racquetball court. He had a planned scheduling conflict with the November 7-10 Red Swain Shootout in Davison, MI and then a recurrence of a nagging rib injury he sustained at the US Open last October that forced him to pull out of the Garden City, KS T1 November 14-17.
This set of events allowed the sun, moon and the planets to align themselves and Rocky Carson passed Kane in the ever confusing IRT “season” points ranking, even though Kane never lost a match and Rocky hasn’t beaten Kane in over 10 years.
Going into the New Jersey Open Kane trails Rocky by 188 season points. After calculating the IRT points ranking formula, Kane will recapture the #1 IRT ranking with a win this weekend in Warren, NJ.
